DOUBLING DOWN: This blackjack rule doubles your initial bet. The crux of this rule is that you can only add one more card to your hand, so it had better be a strong hand to start out with.
SPLITTING PAIRS: This is one of the black jack rules that is actually how the name sounds. You split the pair (your first two cards dealt that have the same value), which doubles your bet. By splitting pairs, you are basically now playing two hands in the round.
TAKING INSURANCE: This is the final one of the blackjack rules and tips, and is normally not advisable to do. If the dealer’s card that is facing up is an ace, you can take insurance, which basically means that you think you are going to lose. If the dealer gets blackjack (the second card is a 10 or face card), you win 2 to 1, but you also lose your initial bet. But if the dealer has any other card for the facing down card, you lose the insurance bet. Insurance is inadvisable because the odds are not in your favor. But it is an offered rule in blackjack.
